Privacy Policy
What this website collects, why, and how long it is kept.
Last updated: January 1, 2026
This policy explains how Kovar Law, LLC (“the firm”, “we”) handles personal information collected through this website. It covers the website only. Information you give us after we agree to represent you is governed by the rules of professional conduct and by our engagement agreement, both of which are stricter than this policy.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name and phone number, which the consultation form requires.
- Your e-mail address and the county of the stop, if you choose to enter them.
- Anything you type into the message field.
Please do not enter medical records, identification numbers, financial details or anything else you would not want read by someone other than us. The form is a way to arrange a call, not a secure channel — see the Disclaimer.
Information collected automatically
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider: IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request.
- Basic analytics about how the site is used, in aggregate. We do not use advertising pixels, cross-site trackers or remarketing tags on this site.
- A small number of functional cookies needed for the site to work. No cookie here is used to build a profile of you.
2. Why we use it
- To return your call or e-mail and answer the question you asked.
- To check for conflicts of interest before we can discuss a matter.
- To keep the site running, secure and reasonably fast.
- To comply with our own legal and professional obligations.
We do not use anything you send to place you on a marketing list, and we do not send newsletters or bulk mail from this site.
3. We do not sell your information
We do not sell, rent, trade or share personal information with anyone for their own marketing purposes — not to lead-generation services, not to other law firms, not to advertisers. This is not a policy we intend to change; if it ever did, the change would be published here before it took effect.
4. Who else sees it
A small number of service providers process data on our behalf, and only as far as their function requires:
- the hosting company that serves these pages;
- the form-delivery service that passes a submission to our inbox;
- our e-mail provider;
- the analytics provider, in aggregate form.
Beyond those, we disclose information only where the law requires it — a valid subpoena, court order or similar legal process — or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.
5. How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not become matters are deleted within twelve months. Conflict-check records are kept longer, because professional rules require us to be able to show what we checked and when. Client files are retained under our file-retention policy, which is set by the rules governing lawyers in this state rather than by this website.
6. Security
This site is served over HTTPS and submissions travel encrypted. That said, no transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us before an engagement exists. Anything genuinely sensitive belongs in a phone call or a meeting.
7. Your choices
- Ask what we hold. Write to us and we will tell you.
- Ask us to delete it. We will, unless a professional or legal obligation requires us to keep it.
- Correct it. Tell us what is wrong and we will fix it.
- Cookies. Your browser can block or clear them; the site will still work.
- Do Not Track. We do not track you across other websites, so there is nothing here for a DNT signal to switch off.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights over your personal data. Ask and we will honor them.
8. Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
9. Links to other sites
Pages we link to have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them. Read theirs before entering anything.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than slipped in silently.
